Dry needling uses very fine, single use (acupuncture) needles to treat trigger points and other sites of pain and tightness in the muscles. We use dry needling in conjunction with other soft tissue techniques including massage, stretching and muscle releases to relieve pain and restore normal flexibility.
Trigger points are points of local irritation in the muscle which refer pain into the surrounding tissues. Dry needling causes reduction in the irritability of trigger points, resulting in reduction of pain.
Dry needling is an effective technique commonly used in the treatment of:-
- Neck pain and headaches
- Low back pain and referred leg pain
- Buttock, hamstring, quadriceps and calf pain and tightness
- Tennis and golfer’s elbow
- Shoulder pain
At Keperra Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic, dry needling may be used as part of your treatment to reduce pain, increase flexibility and improve function. To make an appointment to see one of our physiotherapists, please call 3855 1367
